Mission
The primary mission of the Shasta County Fire Safe Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, shall be to help protect the citizens, property, and natural resources of Shasta County from the effects of catastrophic wildland fires.
The intent of the Council is to:
- Educate the public about fire threat issues and fire prevention measures
- Serve community and neighborhood fire safety needs by becoming a focal point for information, cross-boundary synergy and coordinated action
- Develop and coordinate a Fire Safety Plan, with the cooperation of local fire agencies and community level Fire Safe Councils within Shasta County
- Improve evacuation routes and first responder access within Shasta County
- Reduce the potential for fire loss damage; Draft for Coordination & Comments
- Improve fire safety by reducing dangerous fuel load and other fire sources
- Reduce vegetation waste stream to landfills
- Promote a healthy forest and fire safe communities
- Improve air and water quality
- Secure grant funding for fuel reduction and other fire safe projects
The mission will be accomplished through interagency and neighborhood coordination, along with a strong public and private partnership focusing on public education, exchanging of information, and fostering fire prevention and fire safety to make homes, neighborhoods, and communities fire safe within Shasta County. This Fire Safe Council will operate through in-kind donations, volunteer participation and financial contributions.
